Choosing exhibition & trade show

A trade show display has one job for about six hours: make someone walking past at three miles an hour slow down. That is a different problem from a shopfront sign, and it is why the good stands read from twenty feet with almost no words on them.

The practical constraint is the round trip. Anything you take to a show gets built by tired people in a hall, packed at midnight, and thrown in a van. We favour tension fabric over rigid panels for exactly that reason — the graphic folds into a bag, washes if someone spills on it, and does not arrive with a crease down the middle like a rolled vinyl.

Most stands are assembled from the same handful of parts: a pop up frame or straight tension frame, a printed skin, a counter, and lighting. Tell us the stand size the organiser sold you and whether it is an inline or a corner, and we will lay out what actually fits rather than selling you a backdrop you cannot open.

  • Pop up vs straight tension

    Pop ups collapse to a wheeled case and go up in ten minutes. Straight tension frames look cleaner and suit stands you build the day before.

  • Fabric over vinyl

    Printed textile folds without creasing, washes, and weighs a fraction of rigid panels. It is the difference between hand luggage and a freight booking.

  • Counters and lighting

    A branded counter gives staff somewhere to stand and something to store. Clip-on LED arms lift the whole stand out of hall lighting.

  • Plan for the second show

    Keep dates and stand numbers off the graphic. A backdrop that says nothing time-specific is one you use all year.

Common questions

How far in advance should I order a trade show display?
Three weeks is comfortable for a full stand — that leaves room for a proof, a change of mind, and shipping. Individual banner stands and fabric backdrops can move faster. Tell us the show date first, not the order date.
Will the stand fit my booth?
Send the organiser's floor plan and stand number. Booth dimensions are quoted inconsistently between shows and the difference between a 3m inline and a 3m corner changes what you can build.
Can I fly with an exhibition stand?
Fabric graphics fold into a case and travel as luggage. Frames and counters usually do not — most people ship the hardware and carry the fabric.
Do you print stand graphics for hardware I already own?
Usually yes. Send photos of the frame and any part numbers on it. Pop up systems vary more than they look, so we confirm against the actual hardware before printing.
