An ultra slim light box is an edge-lit aluminium frame: LEDs sit along the inside edge and fire across a diffuser rather than straight at you. That is what lets the whole thing be around 30mm deep and still light a poster evenly, and it is the reason a good one has no hot spots or visible dots when you stand close.
The cheap ones give themselves away in the corners. Too few LEDs along the edge and the middle goes grey; a thin diffuser and you see the individual emitters as a row of bright freckles. We use a higher LED density and a heavier diffuser than the price bracket usually gets, because a light box that is brighter at the edges than the middle draws attention to exactly the wrong thing.
Snap frames open on all four sides, so changing a poster is a thirty-second job at the wall rather than something you take down and dismantle. Fabric versions swap a rigid poster for a printed textile with a silicone edge that pushes into a groove — better for large formats, and the graphic folds into an envelope for posting.
Snap frames suit A2–A0 posters changed often. Tension fabric suits large wall-sized graphics and ships flat in an envelope.
Double-sided units hang perpendicular to a wall or from a ceiling so the message reads from both directions down a corridor.
Wall, suspended, freestanding or recessed. Tell us the wall and we will send the right fixings rather than a generic bag.
Edge-lit LED draws roughly as much as a household bulb and is rated around 50,000 hours — years of shop-hours use.
